BRITISH  COLUMBIA - 2009

In September of 2009 we traveled again to our beloved BC to visit Margret and Wolfgang

in Fairmont Hot Springs and to join them on a trip to Vancouver Island and the City of

Vancouver on the return trip. BC and Vancouver is a special place for me since I lived there

in the 1950 s and am still in love with the place.

Since driving up there is a bit far we took a flight out of LAX to Vancouver and from

there connected to Cranbrook .The weather was perfect and we had a wonderful view

of Mt. Baker in the Northern Cascades. 

After spending a few days at Margret and Wolfgang's place we started out going west

with a fully loaded car. On the trip west, Rogers Pass was one of the highlights and

then the ferry from Horseshoe Bay took us to Vancouver Island.

 

 

Im September 2009 ging es wieder einmal nach British Columbia um Margret und Wolfgang

zu besuchen. Nach ein paar Tagen in Fairmont Hot Springs begannen wir unseren gemeinsamen 

Trip zum Vancouver Island und Vancouver.

Vancouver ist immer noch eine 'dritte' Heimat fuer mich denn ich wohnte dort fuer ein 

paar Jahre in den 1950 ger Jahren.

Mit dem Auto von California nach B.C. ist es ein bischen weit , deshalb flogen wir von 

Los Angeles nach Vancouver (2 1/2 Stunden) und von dort weiter nach 

Cranbrook im oestlichen B.C. Das Wetter war perfect und wir hatten einen 

tollen Blick von Mt. Baker in den Nord Cascades.

Nachdem wir uns bei Margret und Wolfgang fuer ein paar Tage ausgeruht hatten 

ging es los mit einem voll geladenen Auto. Auf der Reise westwaerts machten wir 

Pause am Rogers Pass und dann mit der Faehre von Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver)

hinueber nach Vancouver Island.

 

 

 

 

 

Tofino, on the west side of the island was our first destination. It is a rugged but beautiful

place particularly when the sun shines, which is rare.

Middle Beach Lodge was a perfect place to stay and sit by the fireplace and look at the Ocean.

 

Tofino , auf der westseite der Insel war unser erstes Ziel. Es ist ein wilder doch auch sehr huebscher Platz,

vor allem wenn die Sonne scheint.

Middle Beach Lodge ,unser Hotel, war ein perfecter Platz am Kamin zu sitzen und die Brandung zu bewundern.

 

Our next stop was in Victoria the seat of Parliament for the province of B.C.

We stopped in a few places in between including Butchard Gardens which is a truly

beautiful place. And then on to the great city of Vancouver.

 

Unser naechster Stop war Victoria , der Sitz des Parliaments fuer die Provinz B.C.

Wir besuchten einige Plaetze in der naehe von Victoria inclusive 

die 'Butchard Gardens', immer eine Reise wert.

Und dann ging es weiter nach Vancouver.

 

We took the ferry back from Victoria to Vancouver and checked into our motel in

North Vancouver. We then spend a few glorious days in and around Vancouver.

It all brought back a lot of wonderful memories from decades earlier.

 

Dann ging es zurueck , mit der Faehre, von Victoria nach Vancouver .

Dort verbrachten wir ein paar wunderschoene Tage und fuer mich war es auch eine Reise 

zurueck in laengst vergangene Zeiten.

 

 

A daytrip from Vancouver took us to Whistler Mountain the site of the 2010 Winterolympics.

I skied this place way back in the early 1980 s, so that makes me an Olympic  Champion ??

 

Ein Tagestrip von Vancouver brachte uns zum Whistler Mountain wo im Jahre 2010 die

Winter Olympiade stattfindet.

Ich bin dort einmal zum Skifahren gewesen , ca Anfang 1980, so das heisst ich bin ein

Olympischer Champion ??
